Guide to Biking the Jersey Shore
1. Henry Hudson
Trail and Bike Path -- Atlantic Highlands to Keyport and then south to
Freehold along a dedicated path through marshes and woods. (Currently there
are two unfinished parts on the trail, so it is now broken into three separate
paths, which are handled separately on this link.)
2. Sandy Hook
Bike Path -- Ocean and bay vistas, military structures, and great beaches
on a dedicated bike path
3. Paths to the Sea
-- Beautiful homes along bikeable roads to the sea in Monmouth County
4. Sea Bright to Long
Branch -- Alongside a sea wall on a bike path, past beach clubs, and onto
a concrete boardwalk
5. Long Branch
to Spring Lake -- Past diverse beach communities, from posh to destroyed,
on boardwalks
6. Edgar Felix Bike Path
-- From Manasquan to Allaire State Park on a lonely path through woods
7. Spring
Lake to Point Pleasant -- From a beautiful town to a great boardwalk,
but mostly on a busy highway
8. Point Pleasant
to Island Beach State Park -- Through the two best boardwalks in middle
Jersey to a park with serene beaches, but mostly on an unpleasant highway
9. Bayshore Trail -- Beautiful short path nestled between Sandy Hook Bay and a steep, forested hillside, almost connecting the Henry Hudson Trail to Sandy Hook, now newly reopened.
